Course Reflection

Times pass quick and It’s the sixth day of this class . I feel I learned a lot in the past few days. I enjoyed working with my partners and glad to see my progress. I feel very proud of myself when I view my blogfolio, which documents my achievements in the past few days.

I learn a lot from the class. Not only the way to use these tools that can help myself in my future life, but also the thought the teacher teach me. I learned how to find way to solve the problem. Maybe these tools I learned how to use in the class will not be useful in the future, but this thought will in my mind forever.

WordPress, Schoology and Wenjuanxing are the three tools I like most. The function of each of them is very useful and can be used in my future life. These tools are easy for me to understand and to use. Although they use English, I can also understand them well. Furthermore, I get the interests from learn how to use them. So this is why I choose the three tools. But in my opinion, other tools are very useful too. Like classdojo, it can help teacher to manage students’ behaviors in class and connect students in a community. Furthermore, parents can view the class and get to know what students did in class and how they did their work. Like padlet, students can post whatever they want at the tool, and this tool can be linked to many web like wordpress.

Each of the three tools will be used in my teaching. I will use wordpress to build a blog about class. And I will post some information like note and the asking of preview in it. I will use schoology to upload some materials in it so that my students can get my materials easy and clear. Furthermore, I will use wenjuanxing to do the test or do some survey so that I can know my students’ situation more batter.

The three things that helped me understand the course content and learn better during my group work is Baidu translate, wordpress and the teacher’s help. My English is not very well, so when I feel confuse about the class content, I will use Baidu translate to help me understand what the English say. I usually get the information from the teacher’s wordpress. I know the target from it and can know the example at it. All in all, the thing that most help me in the class is my teacher, Dr. Wang. She told me how to use new tools, she makes me learn to solve the problem by myself, she encourages me to attach new things. Maybe some of her requirement is hard to finish, I still appreciate with my teacher.

There are some things that I felt should be avoided or improved for group work. For example, I am to shame to take part in the team, I should be more open, try to join in more and express more thoughts. My English is not very well so I don’t like to talk English in daily life, but English is real very important so I need to practice more. Furthermore, I need to have more patient when I meet trouble. I should to solve it instead of avoid it.

In this class, my ability of use computer and ability to know the use way of new tools are much strong, but my patient, my ability to use English, to communication should be improve. To be more confident, to be more batter teacher is my future learning goal!

Online Questionnaire, Worksheet, and Quizzes

Today we were asked to create a quiz to assess our students learning outcomes. There are several tools such as polleverywhere.com, testmoz.com, and sojump.com that can be used. I can choose my preferences. Compare the pros and cons of using polleverywhere, wenjuanxing, and testmoz, I like wenjuanxing best. Because wenjuanxing have all the function in other tools, and the word in the wenjuanxing is Chinese. I can easy know how to use it. Furthermore, testmoz is a useful tool, but I can’t edit my survey before I punish it, so I like wenjuanxing more.

Wenjuanxing have four parts of function, survey、 test、vote and sign up. I use the test to make papers and use it to test my students’ level of the knowledge. And we can use survey to get some information about how many children will interested in the class and will they have some suggestions about the class. Each parts have its own function and can be used into many place.

I will use this tool when I want to give my students a test but some of my students have much wrong and can’t get in the class. I can sign up what time to start and what time to finish. Furthermore, I write down the right answers and each student can finish the test at every environment. And I can easily know the scoer and what part they don’t learned very well.

This projects help me meet the ISTE standards of design and develop digital age learning experience and assessments. Because through these tools, I design or adapt relevant learning experience that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity.

Video Editing

Today, my teacher discussed Enhancing Teaching and Learning Through the Use of Digital Story-telling. I know what digital story is, how it is used in classroom.

Digital storytelling is a short form of digital media production that allows everyday people to share aspects of their story. We can use it in classroom teaching and learning because it can be use in learning theories and current teaching and learning practice.

I choose powtoon to edit my video because I think this tool is easy for me to use and the resources is so cute. I meet many problems, like at first I don’t know how to create my video, and when I finished all of it, I don’t know how to download it. Finally, I watch the teaching video in the website and solve the problem by the video.

I have some suggestion to those who want to use video in their classes. For example, this video is about the progress of the class: approach to clock and the information of all of the teachers. So this video is suit for them to use at the first of the class, this video can catch children’s attention very good and can introduce the whole class very well.

The audio and video projects meet the ISTE standard of model digital age work and learning. Because I communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents, and peers using a variety of digital age media and formats.

From this class I learn a lot technology about how to cut and put videos, how to record an audio and upload it into Internet. I think this class is real useful for our future teaching life, I love it.

Audio Editing

Today morning we were asked to create a audio file to teach the content in the lesson plan. I use the app in my phone to make the audio and I upload the audio into the computer by Wechat. It is a hard work for me to do this. To make this audio better, I write down the words in the paper and read it, I think this will help me read more batter. This audio is about how to teach the children to organize the half hour and hour. I think this audio is helpful to our courses and my partner can use it to make others know our courses better.

Video Creation

Today afternoon we were asked to create an about 2 minute video to teach the content. I choose the tool: Powtoon. I choose this pool because it is free to use and the resources in it is very cute. Furthermore, it is easy for first editor to use. I meet many problems, like at first I don’t know how to create my video, and when I finished all of it, I don’t know how to download it. Finally, I watch the teaching video in the website and solve the problem by the video.

Finally, I have some thoughts on how to integrate audio and video materials  into my classroom teaching. I can use the video to introduce the whole process of the class to make the children know what should them to do and how to do. And the audio can be upload into our website and will help children to review it.

Website Design

Today, we created a course site based on our lesson plan. It was a group work. Each of us take part in the work that created our course site. A web page is a document that is suitable for the World Wide Web and web browsers. A web browser displays a web page on a monitor or mobile device. The web page is what displays, but the term also refers to a computer file, usually written in HTML or comparable markup language. A web page can contain any type of information, and can include text, color, graphics, animation and sound. But the document page such as TXT documents, it is relatively easy to form a single comparison, only put it down in black and white, the content is relatively simple.

A website is a collection of web pages, such as the one you’re looking at now. When someone gives you their web address, it generally takes you to their website’s home page, which should introduce you to what that site offers in terms of information or other services. I need to plan your site with a storyboard ahead of time because a lot of visitors will watch our   website, and a beautiful website will attach their sight and make them have a deep impression on our website.

While created we meet a lot of problems. I’m responsible for the resources page with my partner Sabrina. We find three kind of resources and want to devided them into three web pages, but we don’t know how to do this. We find the teacher and get her help. We created another three web pages and linked them into the first page. Finally, we finished our resources page greatly.

I think this project this project help me to meet one of the ISTE standards. The standard is: Model digital age work and learning. Because through this website, wo created a way to show the whole progress of our course. Every parents and students can watch the course ahead or before to preview or review. Furthermore, students and parents can find more readings in the website.

My experience with class management software: classdojo

classdjToday we learn about how to use Classdojo. Classdojo is a kind of free online software. It can help teacher to manage students’ behaviors in class and connect students in a community. Furthermore, parents can view the class and get to know what students did in class and how they did their work.The address of Classdojo is: https://ideas.classdojo.com/.

I learn a lot learn from this project. I can not only use this project to manage my students but also can know the last information of my students. Even I can communicate with the parents in the project face by face.

In classroom teaching, I will choose to use this project to teach. I will create an activity and add my students firstly. Then I observed the whole class and record each student’s condition. If the student is a strong performer, I will give him points. To the contrary, I will cut him points. By this way, I can easily know the situation of the whole class.

I think this project connect to one of the ISTE standards. The standard is: Model digital age work and learning. Through use Classdojo, we create a digital model of whole class. We can directly know the situation of students and can help the students point by point. This kind of help is targeted, every students can maximize the benefits. And some public information can promote student’s learning motivation: The poorer one want to become batter, the batter one want to become the best one.Furthermore, we find that the classdojo have many other useful function like we and the parents can see things that happened in de classroom recently, teachers can send messages to every parents and know how many parents have seen it.

Integrating electronic white board in classroom teaching

11111111.pngThis afternoon we learned Padlet. It is an electronic white board, where students can post whatever they want at the tool. And this tool can be linked to many web like wordpress.

I learn a lot learn from this tool. I learn that there is a kind of tool that I can freely share my mind online. Even I can change the background of Padlet no matter how I want it is. It is so amazing.

When I am teaching, I can use this tool to let students pick up their work or the trouble they meet in the tool, and I can watch all of them one by one. Furthermore, I can write some note on it and every students can see the notes at the tool.

I think this project connect to one of the ISTE standards. The standard is: Design and develop digital age learning experience and assessments. Because each student can have their own padlet and they can see each other’s in the Internet. They push their learning skill or trouble in the learning on the tool and other will help them to solve the problem or find the way to solve their trouble at the tool. I think it is a really good way to improve their ability of use technology-enriched learning environments.

Day Two

My understanding on the flipped classroom

This morning, teacher introduced what is flipped classroom model and how to use the flipped classroom. In the flipped classroom model, students watch lectures at their own place and communicating with peers and teachers via discussion .In common classroom, students usually get knowledge at school and do homework at home, but in the flipped classroom, concept engagement takes place in the classroom with the help of the instructor.

As a college student, I want professors to use this method because though flipped classroom, it is easy for students to catch up with missed work. Furthermore, it providing more time and opportunity for interaction and reduce students’ anxiety about homework.

If I teach a class, I will use this method because it can directly help teacher to help students get better grades. But at the same times, it also bring bad effects. For example, teacher’s guidance role becomes weaker than traditional classrooms. Maybe student could not form more ideas on their own. So as a teacher, we need to control the balance.

Working experiences on creating a lesson plan with the flipped classroom teaching model

Our group’s lesson plan is about Approach to Clock. It is a subject about math and our objectives is make children be able to cognitive the clock structure, recognize the operation rules of hour and minute hands , perception hour and half hour, cultivate the time concept, practice the manipulative ability. We had heated discussed about how to teach children to Approach to Clock under flipped classroom teaching model.

The biggest challenge about this project is that all of us have never created a lesson plan or taught in a class. But we still finished it by our common efforts.

Working together in a term is a very exacting experience. Furthermore, it is very enjoyable for me to join in such a term to solve troubles with my term member together. I learn that union is strength, only when we work together,  can we solve the problem that we can’t do it by ourselves.

My experiences on working on the survey

We used poll to create a survey to get to know students’ knowledge background and technology skills with ten questions. When creating this project, I have meeting a lot of challenging, such as we don’t know how to use the technology. Furthermore, it is a big trouble for us to think about the questions we will have at the survey. The technology is not easy to use. We even let ten questions into ten surveys. I think it is mainly because that we cannot understand the page very well, the all-English page is much trouble to us. Except these troubles, the tool is very useful for us to create a survey. I will use this tool to do survey in the future.

Student Lucy and ED326

Hello everyone, my name is Lucy and my Chinese name is Chenlu Qian. I come from Shanghai Yangpu area. I’m a freshman of Tianhua college and my major is Early Childhood Education. I love this major not only because becoming a teacher is my dream but also I love children very much. For me, it is a pleasure and an honor to train children to grow from ignorance.And as a teacher, it is a duty for me to protect these children and make them healthy and happy.

These day I learn about ED326, I think this course is about how to use high-tech electronic products to teach my future students well. At the same time, this course tell me that we should use electronic products suitably, or it will bring bad effects to the small children.

I think that science and technology play a very important role and play a very important role in infant teaching. Early Childhood Education can use technology products such as iPad and projectors to support the teaching process. For example, We can vivid teach digital by making digital songs and use audio to release, with the form of audio-visual playback.

This class makes me gain a lot and learn a lot. It is a very meaningful lesson.
